1bottle dark red wine(I am using a Malbec for this recipe. See recipe for more suggestions.)
1/2cupbrandy
1/3cupagave syrup
1 1/2cupsblack seedless grapeswashed and air dried
4plumswashed, stone removed, sliced
1cupblackberrieswashed and air dried
1cupfresh black cherriesseeds removed and washed
1cuppure grape juicesubstitute: blueberry, blackberry, or pomegranate juice
sparkling water or ginger alechilled
Garnish
frozen black seedless grapesplum slices, and blackberries
Instructions
Add the fruits into a large pitcher. Pour in the wine, brandy, agave syrup, and the juice. Give it a gently stir with a large spoon and refrigerate for at least two hours or until ready to serve.
Fill a wind glass 3/4 full. Top with chilled sparkling water.
Drop more frozen berries and plum slices in or skewer the frozen fruits and place across the top of the glass. The frozen fruit will keep the sangria chilled.
Notes
Black Sangria is best served chilled. Keep in the refrigerator until serving.
Make sure you let the sangria rest for at least two hours in the fridge before serving to let the flavors dance.

MAKE AHEADIf making ahead for a party, Mix the wine, simple syrup, and the juice. Chill. Add the fruits 2 1/2 hours before serving.
