Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 6 small green or red apples, washed and dried, stems removed
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 teaspoon clear vanilla
  • 4 drops white food coloring
  • 3 drops (your favorite color #1 ) food coloring
  • 3 drops (your favorite color #2 ) food coloring
  • 6 natural apple tree sticks or popsicle sticks

Instructions

Coat a piece of parchment paper with cooking spray on a baking sheet.

Insert the sticks into the clean dry apples.

In a medium saucepan, mix together the sugar, water, and corn syrup. Attach the candy thermometer and avoid letting it touch the pan. Heat the mixture to 302° F. over medium heat. Stir occasionally with a wooden spoon. This will take about 15 minutes.

Remove the bubbly mixture from the heat immediately when it reaches 302° F and quickly stir in the vanilla and the white food coloring. Add the second and third color of food coloring and swirl into the white bubbling candy and swirl.

WORK QUICKLY!

Holding the stick, swirl each apple into the mixture and place it onto the prepared parchment paper after dipping.

Let the candy harden completely before eating.

SPARKLE TIP! Add water to the saucepan and boil over medium heat. This will melt the hardened candy and make clean up much easier.

Notes

Clean Up: Add water to the sauce pan and boil over medium heat. This will melt the hardened candy and make clean up much easier. Smile!
