Sugared Cranberries

SUGARED CRANBERRIES

Ingredients

2  cups sugar, divided
1/2 cup water
1 (12-ounce bag) fresh cranberries

Add the 1/2 cup sugar and 1/2 cup water to a sauce pan. Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat and stir until the sugar is dissolved. Remove the syrup from the heat. Let the simple syrup cool for 10 minutes.

When the simple syrup has cooled. Stir in the cranberries until they are well coated. Drain the liquid from the cranberries.

Place a wire rack on a cookie sheet. Carefully scatter the sugared berries on a wire rack and let them dry for at least two hours.

Working in small batches, roll the cranberries in the remaining sugar until they are well coated. Place them back on the wire rack and let them dry completely.
