Ireland has many great cheeses! Click here….Irish Cheese Makers to read all about them.
Types of Cheeses For An Irish Cheese Board
When putting together a cheese board or a cheese platter, I recommend one hard cheese, one semi-soft or soft cheese, a blue cheese, and a specialty cheese.
You can find Irish cheese selections for party cheese platters at grocery stores year round and especially before St. patrick’s Day.
The following are delicious suggestions to cover the recommended selections.
Hard Irish Cheese
DUBLINER
Dubliner is a sweet and nutty Irish cow’s milk hard cheese with a smooth texture. The crystalline formations from a 12 month aging add delight to the texture.
Irish Semi-Soft and/or Soft Cheese
IRISH CHEDDAR
With creamy and grassy notes, Irish cheddar is a delicious and special cheese to keep of hand for a snack. Bonus, it is the easiest to find. In fact you can find several options in most grocery stores.
Blue Cheese
CASHEL BLUE
Ireland is famous for blue cheese. Made by the Grubbs family in the county of Tipperary, this full bodied rich Irish cheese is made with pasteurized milk and ripens for six months.
Specialty Cheese
Irish Porter Cheese
A festive flavor! Irish porter cheese is made with cheese curds and Irish porter beer. This dark beer gives the cheese its distinct marbled appearance and roasted malty taste!
How much Cheese To Serve On A Cheeseboard Per Guest
When it comes to a cheese boards and charcuterie, I recommend 1 to 2 ounces of each cheese on the board per person.

Assemble St. Patrick’s Day Irish Cheese Board
The following are specific items I used for this Irish Cheese Tray. Be sure to read this post for inspirations for your own sparkle spin.
Supplies
Choose a large enough board or platter to accommodate the cheeses you want to use along with accompaniments. Perhaps choose baskets for your breads and crackers. I used this round spinning marble board rimmed in gold from MudPie. The gold is a nice touch for St. Patrick’s Day.

ADD THE CHEESES
Just like in gardening, it is a great rule of thumb to work in odd numbers with the focus of the board. Place the cheeses on the board leaving space for more accoutrements.
CRACKERS & BREADS
Next add the Irish Oat Crackers and Irish Soda Bread between the cheeses.
DRIED OR FRESH FRUITS
On this board I am using dried raisins, apricots, and candied guava.
IRISH BUTTER
Add a big dollop of Irish Salted Butter!
NUTS & GOLD FOIL CHOCOLATE COINS
Fill the Irish Cheese Platter in with nuts and gold coins.
CLOVER GARNISH
Garnish with a few sprigs of clover. NOT EDIBLE! DO NOT CONSUME!
