Sparkling Little Moments In Time

One of my favorite things about being an Army wife are the traditions and ceremonies that add charm to our unique lifestyle. A Change of Command is one of my favorites. This particular photo happened to be snapped prior to my husbands Change of Command Ceremony and we were the out-going team.

I met my dear friend Martha and her lovely daughter Katherine in our front yard for a last walk across Watkins Parade Field for what would be the beginning of the end of our time in the 1-17 Infantry. I could feel the tears filling my eyes as we strolled past my husbands soldiers.  Holding my hand, Little Miss Katherine stopped me for a quick beauty tip. She whispered, “Don’t cry Miss Gwyn. Your eyelashes will come off and I love your eyelashes.” Then she gave me a kiss on the cheek. Not only did it make me smile, it dried the tears right up. This is proof that “girl code” is recognized at a very young age. A SPARKLING LITTLE MOMENT IN TIME INDEED!
