Easy Cherry Cobbler Recipe
Cherry Cobbler Ingredients
- 1/2 stick unsalted butter
- 1 cup self-rising flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup milk
- 1 1/2 cups fresh sour or sweet cherries, washed and pitted (Substitute with a can of cherry pie filling or canned cherries.)
optional: 1/2 cup sanding sugar
TOOLS YOU’LL NEED
Cobbler Instructions
Preheat oven to 350° F.
Place the unsalted butter in a cast iron skillet and melt over medium heat. Turn the heat off the very minute it is melted. (If you are using a baking dish, melt the butter in the dish while the oven heats.)
Add the sugar, self-rising flour, and cold milk in a medium mixing bowl. Stir the cherry cobbler recipe batter until just combined.
Note: Just about 20 strokes will do it. Lumps are okay. Be careful not to over work the mixture.
Pour the mixture over the hot butter.
Sprinkle or spoon the fresh cherries, canned cherries, or cherry pie filling over the mixture.
Bake for 45 minutes.
Serve warm or cold with a scoop of ice cream or whipped cream!

I don’t have self rising flour. Could I use all purpose and baking powder? Or? Thanks.

You can turn All-Purpose flour into Self-Rising flour easily.
1 cup AP Flour + 1 1/2 Teaspoon Baking Powder + 1/2 teaspoon salt. Whisk for 1 minute. Have a great week! -gwyn
