Best Black Buttercream Ingredients

  • 2 cups unsalted or salted butter, softened
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 cup black cocoa powder
  • 4 +/- tablespoons buttermilk (substitute whole milk)
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

TOOLS YOU’LL NEED

Instructions

Whisk together the powdered sugar and the black cocoa powder.

Beat the butter in a mixing bowl until light and fluffy. Add the three tablespoon of the buttermilk and vanilla followed by the black cocoa and powdered sugar mixture. Mix on slow speed until smooth. Add more buttermilk one tablespoon at a time until the black buttercream frosting reached the desired thickness.
